Bathford Railway Bridge

Bathford BridgeBathford Railway Bridge carries the main line railway from Bristol/Bath to London Paddington over the A363 (Bathford to Bradford-on-Avon) road.

It was built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel with the Great Western Railway, and completed in 1841 when the first trains to Paddington Station began. It was the final bridge to be completed on this line. Although it has not been maintained in mint condition, and has been subjected to some alteration (downgrading) of its stonework, it nevertheless provides a magnificent entrance to the main part of Bathford village.
